Phoenixes Flying Through Peonies
The work is based on the original ten-meter gongbi painting scroll Phoenixes Flying Through Peonies. By employing virtual space design, 3D rendering, and artificial intelligence, it merges the meticulous realism of gongbi with the expressive fluidity of ink painting, enriching the poetic atmosphere of the scroll and extending its boundaries into a dynamic digital realm.
The piece vividly presents the complete taxonomy of Heze peonies—nine color families, ten flower types, and 1,308 varieties—while expanding the imagery beyond the scroll to encompass the entire exhibition space. Executed as a continuous one-shot sequence, the digital imagery conveys a meditation on the cyclical vitality of nature, transforming the static scroll into a luminous, living scene of light and motion.
