Light Dwelling
The work transforms sunlight into a presence that “dwells” within space. Suspended overhead, the circular mechanical structure rotates slowly under algorithmic control. Embedded within it, two prisms continuously refract invisible daylight into bands of spectral color, allowing light to drift gently throughout the environment.
The angle of the sun, changing weather, and subtle shifts in mechanical motion together determine the position and form of each appearance of color. The rainbow may sweep across staircases, white walls, and mirrored surfaces, or briefly come to rest on a viewer’s clothing or body.
Here, the precision of mechanical order converges with the unpredictability of nature, allowing light to become a presence that can be observed and almost touched. These fleeting rainbow fragments dwell quietly within the space, imbuing it with a subtle sense of rhythm and a light, breathing vitality.
